October 21, 2008 – In a surprising development, Republican women have proven themselves willing to show more skin than their Democratic counterparts and in the process have taken a commanding 6 point lead on the political sexiness site SexiestParty.com.

"Going in, we were worried about how to get Republicans to compromise their small town values and sex-it-up, but apparently Republicans are more bikini than bible. I think we’re discovering the truth about mainstream America," muses Kurt Michael, co-founder of the site SexiestParty.com, which allows regular rank-and-file Republicans and Democrats the chance to post their sexiest photos online to be voted on by others.

The Republican Party is well on its way to being declared America’s Sexiest Party on November 4th, 2008. It should be noted that this ranking stands in direct contrast with the general election polls, which as of 10/21 show Democrats holding an 8 point lead over Republicans (Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby).

"I thought the Republican mantra was 'guns, gays, and god', not 'guns, gays, god, and g-strings.' Aren’t the Hollywood Democrats supposed to be the masters of using sex to get ahead?”

Asked if such a brazen approach might work in the general election to help revive a sagging, deflated Republican campaign, Mr. Michael was circumspect. "SexiestParty.com is a non-partisan site, and as such cannot offer strategic advice. That said, their last big bump in the polls came on the (high) heels of a sexy woman, so who knows."

An unnamed Democratic spokesperson had this to say: "We find these tactics – baring skin, showing an ample if cosmetically enhanced chest, splashing around in hot tubs, and trolloping about in delightfully revealing swimsuits – to be, as it were, beyond the pale. We call on party leaders to make a stand against such brazen behavior." The spokesperson then went on to download 2 or 3 of the offending images for "additional investigation."
